While I am designing and running a business it’s easy to lose track of time and sometimes even the perspective of what a customer is seeing online or on social media.

To me, it can feel like my designs are old news and that things are not happening fast enough.

Side note, I love how these newsletters have quickly become just a copy and paste from my notes app. So really, at this point, you’re just reading my personal thoughts about running a business, that for some reason, I then decide to share with hundreds of people.

Anyway, when I take a step back (and I am sure you could do the same exercise with any circumstance in your life) I see that people are still discovering the designs that I am making and that three years ago this business was literally just a thought I had in my lil’ old brain.

Internet trends, social media and really most of the world move so f**** fast. It feels like you always need to be sprinting to keep up, but that is not the reality of the story or project in front of us. Instead, I think we all find better results when we slow down and enjoy the process that we are working so hard on. It feels a bit silly to rush into the manufacturing off all these designs that I have, when the reality is that I absolutely love the design process. I love researching materials and how I can incorporate details that other people may not have thought about- why would I rush my favorite part of the business I’ve worked so hard to create? Just to keep up with TikTok?! That’s insane.

My sister and I were talking about how once our generation moves into higher rolls within the workplace, we think things will slow down a little and maybe we will even get a 4 day work week... (Sorry boomers, y’all just really emphasized that all we should do is work and I think we are over it (unless it was your parents that emphasized it?? (How did we get here?)))

Polished Aluminum Lamp with a Stained Glass Lampshade

This brand has always been dedicated to designing heirloom quality furniture. That is furniture that is made to last for generations- that is so much time!!! And I’m over here stressing about the designs after 1 tiny year. (Perspective!!!)

And out of that year it takes about 2 months for each of these products to be made by hand in Los Angeles. That alone should be a reminder (more to me than to anyone else) that this furniture doesn’t have to abide by press deadlines and consumer timelines. What will be, will be. (I say that to myself while simultaneously contradicting it with some of my favorite words by Emma Watson “If not me, who, if not now, when” I think she was addressing the UN on ending gender inequality, but you know- got to stay motivated, right? )

Anyway, the point of this newsletter is really just to say …

Thank you for your patience… new products are currently being designed, but great things take time.

This furniture is designed with the classics in mind and infused with youthful energy, a juxtaposition that allows it to stand out today while also standing the test of time.

Not ready to say goodbye? Here is a recent post about a bed I designed- people are saying it’s the sexiest bed there ever was- but judge for yourself.

Lastly, a playlist for you.
